Microsoft is implementing its strategy of mobile first, cloud first strategy which is luckily not limited to Windows. This week, Microsoft introduced the Microsoft Translator to the Android and iOS world. Microsoft also included the support for Android Wear and Apple Watch giving users the flexibility to use it anywhere.
Microsoft’s translator is an amazing app and you must give it a try if haven’t already. The app offers both text and voice input as long as they are in one of the supported languages (50+). It is good in understanding what you say and provides nearly instant translations. In some of the other apps you need to take care of the pronunciations because of the special accent that goes with that particular language, but with Microsoft Translator it’s not like that, it listens properly and translates it in a lot of languages. Probably the same robust listening and recognition engine goes behind translator that is being used for Cortana’s listening capabilities.
Translator can be a big help when at a non-native location. The app can speak a translated word for you to learn the pronunciation or to make somebody else understand what you want to say. Microsoft Translator can be installed alongside Google Translator and having both can make you capable enough to do basic communication with just anybody in the world no matter the language.
Microsoft Translator supports the following languages:
Arabic, Bosnian (Latin), Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese(S), Chinese(T), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong Daw, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Quer’etaro Otomi, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian (Cyrillic), Serbian (Latin), Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese and Welsh, and Yucatec Maya.
