Nokia Mobile has started the long-awaited rollout of Android 11 to the Nokia 8.3. The Nokia 2.3 is also getting the Android 11 update alongside the Nokia 8.1. Nokia launched the Nokia 8.1 with Android 9.0 on board. It received the Android 10 update in October 2019. Similarly, the Nokia 2.3 launched with Android 9. It is getting its 2nd major OS update now with Android 11.
The rollout of Android 11 hasn’t been as fast as Nokia did for the Android 10. However, it is still a commendable job from their side that they are still keeping up on their promise of 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates.
Android 11 is the last major update for Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 2.3. I hope that HMD Global will make the devices stable enough before their support ends.
Nokia 8.1 Android 11 Update
The Android 11 update for Nokia 8.1 is over 1.42 ~ 1.53 GB in size. The update with version number 6_190 is currently available in 9 countries as part of Wave 1. Only 10% of the users will get the update today. Then 50% of the users will get it by the 10th of April. Eventually, all users in the aforementioned countries will get it on the 12th of April.
Countries in Wave 1 (9): The countries are Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Macau, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Download & install manually: You can download the update zip file which you can then use to manually install the update to your Nokia 8.1. You can follow this method if the update is not yet available in your region (do not use the following file if your phone is using Russian firmware).
- Download Nokia 8.1 00WW_6_190 Android 11 Update zip file from THIS LINK.
- Keep it on your PC or else put it into the MicroSD card of your Nokia 8.1.
- Reboot the Nokia 8.1 to recovery mode.
- Select Install update from ADB or Install update from SD card, depending on where you placed the update file (PC or the SD card).
- Send the update file using the command: adb sideload ota.zip
Or if using the SD card method, browse to the location where you have saved the file and select it for installation. - Wait for the installation to finish.
Nokia 2.3 Android 11 Update
Nokia 2.3 users in the following countries will receive the update under Wave 1. It will take 4 days before the update reaches 100% of the user base. The update version number is V3.220 or 00ww_3_220.
Countries in Wave 1 (18): Bangladesh, Cambodia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Latvia, Laos, Lithuania, Macau, Malaysia, Nepal, Norway, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Vietnam.
Manual install: You can download the update file from THIS LINK. You can then try to sideload the update file from the Android recovery mode using the option “Apply update from SD card”.
