Nokia is pushing a new update to the Nokia X6 in China, which allows users to hide the notch. Nokia is collecting feedback from the users and making the experience better. It is a known fact that some users like the notch, while others do not.
You need to install the latest software update on the Nokia X6 to get the new settings. The update carries the build number 229D.B01, weighing 554MB.
How does it work?
When enabled, the entire area around the notch will turn black. The color of the icons changes to white, as seen on the status bar of most Android smartphones. System apps such as Camera & Gallery will not extend to the edge of the screen. It works the same way as we saw on the OnePlus 6. Here’s a before and after image.
So you basically experience a virtual bezel which aligns with the notch. Apps stop extending beyond the notch, ensuring a slightly better user experience for apps which have important information in that area.
How to hide the notch – Go to Settings > Display > Status bar style and change to Smooth edges.
