However coming to the availability, it turns out that the perspective buyers are needed to wait for a while. The Nokia tablet will start selling in Q1 2015 starting with China and will then expand to Russia and select European and other countries. We’ll update the post as we find details for other countries
Availability by Region | |
Country | Availability |
China | Available – Details here |
Russia | End Q1 – Q2 2015 |
Europe (Select Countries) | End Q1 – Q2 2015 |
As Nokia no longer operates its own manufacturing plants, Nokia entered into a brand licensing agreement with an OEM Foxconn which will handle manufacturing, sales, marketing and support for the N1 and any other products that may follow. Nokia will be putting up rigid quality control and the products will meet the Nokia quality that we expect.
One of the First Devices to sport USB Type-C Connector
Nokia N1 is one of the first, if not the first device to sport a reversible USB type C connector which is going to be the standard moving forward. The Type C cables can be plugged either way end-to-end or upside down (just like Apple’s lightening connector).
Verdict
Nokia has always designed decent products and the N1 tablet is no different. The one-piece sandblasted aluminum body really gives it a premium feel (and somehow makes it look like an iPad 😛 ). The tablet is also backed by decent hardware especially the 64-bit Intel® quad-core processor which is capable enough to offer a smooth and lag-free experience. However the availability is the aspect where it actually disappoints. Let’s see if we manage to get hands on it before the competition outshines it.
